Current Situation 2025:
- Current Voucher Residents are not at risk of losing their housing assistance.
- HOSWWA has sufficient funding to continue supporting all current voucher holders through at least September 30, 2025.
- The Family Self Sufficiency Program is funded through December 31, 2025
- HOSWWA has not experienced any direct funding cuts or direct impacts from Presidential Executive Orders or other federal policy changes at this time.
2026 Funding At Risk:
- The Presidents “Skinny Budget” proposes 43% funding cuts to Housing programs. This cut could severely affect HOSWWA programs.
- The Bill includes a measure to “block grant” all housing programs to the states.
- The Bill mandates work requirements and 2-year time limits for “work able” recipients of housing assistance.
- In this Bill, Family Self Sufficiency Programs are eliminated.
- The Emergency Housing Voucher Program is also being eliminated by December 2026.
